Since MikroTik's Wiki is a bit out-of-sync with time, I hope you find this usefull, even it's more like a bits. Please note, that some hardware has been tested only with ROS 3.x and then updated to 4.x in the field. Thus if eg. non-functional IDE in ROS 3.x doesn't imply same state in ROS 4.x. I just didn't test it anymore. Updates are always welcome! Oh, and of course - I guarantee nothing. ---! GIGABYTE M52L-S3P !--- * scAM2+ * nForce 520LE, * PCIe x16 :: 1 slot, * PCIe x1 :: 2 slots, * PCI :: 4 slots, * DDR2 1066 :: 4 slots, * SATA II RAID 2 ports, * IDE :: 1 port, * USB2.0 :: 4 ports, * LAN Gbit, * ATX, * 7ch audio, Everything seems to be supported in MikroTik. Boot from IDE works as well as boot from USB flash drive. I assume SATA works as well. LAN also works. Tested with RouterOS 3.x and [somewhat] 4.x ---------- ---! GIGABYTE P43-ES3G !--- * sc775 * P43/ ICH10, * DDR2 1200 :: 4 slots, * PCIe x16 :: 1 slot, * PCIe x1 :: 1 slot, * PCI :: 5 slots, * SATA II :: 6 ports, * IDE :: 1 port, * USB2.0, * GLAN, * ATX, * 8ch audio, Excellent motherboard, although support in MikroTik is somewhat low. IDE is visible, but it's not possible to boot from. SATA might work. USB flash drive boot works like a charm, and it's just fine. LAN doesn't work, although is visible. Disadvantages of this motherboard are you can't turn-off IDE, because it is dependent on SATA controller. Another thing is latencies go sky-rocket under load. I think it might be caused by SMP (we've bought Dual-Celeron). This yet have to be tested. So far it's unresolved. I've found similar post in MikroTik's forums. It also looks like queue issue rather than hardware one. Tested with RouterOS 3.x and 4.x. 2009/Dec/10: I've replaced this mobo with M52L-S3P. Disabling SMP is probably very bad idea. After doing this, MT was unable to see one of four atheros cards. This looked like an IRQ conflict with 3Com card. I gave up after an ~hour of experimenting and replaced it with another hardware. Motherboard runs just fine with GNU/Linux except Realtek LAN on-board. ---------- ---! MSI K8T Neo2 v1.0 !--- * sc939 * VIA KT800 Pro * 4 x DIMM DDR-1 * 1 x AGP 8x * 5 x PCI * 2 x UDMA/133/100/66 * 1 x IDE RAID * 1 x FDD * 4 x SATA * 8 x USB 2.0 (Total) * 1 x Parallel, 1 x Serial * 1 x PS/2 Keyboard, 1 x PS/2 Mouse * 7 x Audio I/O * 2 x IEEE1394 * 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x RJ-45 Port Everything should work in RouterOS 3.x and 4.x including LAN and booting from IDE. I haven't tested SATA and USB flash disk boot. Please note, you won't fit ATX2.1, ATX2.2 or ATX2.3 into this motherboard. Reason are capacitors placed next to the connector which makes it impossible. ---------- ---! i855GMEm-LFS !--- * sc479 400MHz FSB only * Intel 855GME/ICH4-M * 2 x DIMM DDR-1 * 1 x AGP 4x * 3 x PCI * 2 x UDMA/133/100/66 * 2 x SATA 1.5GB/s [Promise 0+1] * 1 x FDD * 4 x USB 2.0 * 1 x IEEE1394 * 1 x VGA * 1 x Audio I/O * 1 x PS/2 Keyboard, 1 x PS/2 Mouse * 2 x RS232 * 2 x LAN Marvell 88E8001 10/100/1000Mbit * 4 x USB 2.0 Great and reliable motherboard. I don't know what else to add except it's a shame they don't make such motherboards anymore. It also has integrated VGA card, dual 1Gbit LAN,... Only disadvantage is this motherboard supports only CPU with 400MHz FSB. Almost everything can be turned-off in BIOS [separately!] thus saving precious IRQ for cards. Tested with RouterOS 3.x and 4.x It works just fine, so far. ---------- ---! i915Ga-HFS !--- * sc479 400/500MHz FSB * Intel 915G/ICH6 * 4 x DIMM DDR-2 * 1 x PCIe 16x * 1 x PCIe 1x * 3 x PCI * 1 x UDMA/133/100/66 * 4 x SATA * 1 x FDD * 4 x USB 2.0 * 2 x RS232 * 1 x Parallel * 1 x VGA/DVI/HDMI/many various * 1 x LAN Marvell 88E8053 10/100/1000Mbit * 1 x Audio This motherboard works and everything on it. Booting from ATA works for sure. Booting from USB should also work, but I haven't tested it. LAN works without problems. BIOS allows you to disable almost everything as you need, thus saving IRQs. Tip: don't forget to disable IDE2 which you won't need at all because it's not present on-board! 1 extra IRQ right there :) Supported CPUs are mostly Dothans, yet motherboard supports Celerons and old/first Pentium-M as well. Please, see manual. Too bad keyboard I/O died otherwise I'd have chance to test it in the field. i855GMEm-LFS too its place, at least for the time. 10/Jan/06 - On-board LAN Marvell 88E8053 proven itself to be troublesome under GNU/Linux. I don't know how about in ROS, but it's better to be off this NIC. I've read problems come from sloppy design to bad firmware, but - who knows. Tested with RouterOS 3.x and 4.4. Not tested in the field. ----------
